The Second Preliminary Round

The 2026/27 KNVB Beker moves into its Second Preliminary Round on Tuesday 22 September 2026, when ten ties kick off simultaneously at 20:00 local time. Clubs involved at this stage include ACV, AFC '34, Achilles Veen, DOVO, DVS '33 Ermelo, EVV Echt, Eemdijk and Excelsior '31, drawn largely from the Dutch amateur and lower-league scene.

Each tie in this round is a single match, meaning there is no return leg and the result on the night alone decides which club progresses to the next stage of the competition.

Grounds Hosting the Second Preliminary Round

This round is played at local sports parks rather than the country's major stadiums, reflecting the level of the clubs still involved at this early stage. Venues in use this round include Sportpark ICT Specialist, Sportpark de Vinken, Sportpark In de Bandert, Sportpark De Koerbelt, Sportpark De Kooltuin, Sportpark Panhuis, Sportpark De Boshoek, Sportpark Wesselopark, Sportpark Spanjaardslaan and Sportpark Duinwetering.

Further grounds associated with clubs in this year's competition include Sportpark De Hanen Weide in Veen, Sportspark de Vlotter in Heemskerk, the Jan Ory Voetbalcomplex in Alkmaar, Stadion Esserberg in Groningen, Sportpark Elinkwijk in Utrecht, Sportpark De Bosk in Harkema, Gemeentelijk Sportpark SJC in Noordwijkerhout, Sportpark de Wetering in Genemuiden, Sportpark Cromwijck in Woerden and Sportpark De Lok in Tiel.

How the Bracket Develops

KNVB Beker runs as a straight knockout, with each round decided by a single match rather than over two legs. Once this preliminary stage is complete, the competition moves on to rounds with their own dedicated pages: Round of 32, Round of 16, Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals, ahead of the final itself.

Clubs progressing through the Second Preliminary Round join a wider bracket that eventually narrows down to the two sides who contest the final, with the draw for later rounds confirmed once each stage is complete.

Watching a Local Cup Tie

For fans based near one of the participating clubs, the Second Preliminary Round offers a chance to watch senior cup football at a local, easily accessible ground rather than travelling to a major stadium. Kick-off across all ten fixtures is set for the same time, so a trip to one match rules out attending another on the same night.

Comparing Prices for the Second Preliminary Round

Prices for this round can be compared across StubHub, Viagogo, Hellotickets, Football Ticket Net, Gigsberg and SportsEvents365, so fans can see how listings for a given tie stack up before deciding where to buy. Because all ten ties kick off at the same time on the same evening, options for those wanting to attend more than one match are limited to grounds within travelling distance of each other.

With sixty clubs listed as involved in this season's competition, the Second Preliminary Round is one of several early rounds that narrow the field before the tournament reaches its later, more widely followed stages.
